Lake Travis Conditions
Current Water Levels, Boating Readiness & Safety Insights
Lake Travis is one of the most dynamic lakes in Central Texas, with water levels that rise and fall based on rainfall, dam flow, and usage demand. These levels are key to planning a safe and successful boat day. As of the latest update, Lake Travis stands at 635.76 ft, making it suitable for most recreational boating. While some low coves may be affected, our captains are trained to adjust routes for comfort and safety. Whether you’re planning a party barge or a wakeboarding session, we’ll make sure your experience is top-tier.
Lake Austin Conditions
Stable Waters, Smooth Rides & Ideal for All Skill Levels
Lake Austin is known for its calm, regulated water levels, typically ranging between 491 and 492.5 ft. Unlike other lakes, it remains steady thanks to upstream dam control — making it a top choice for beginner boaters, families, and those who want a smoother ride. This consistency means minimal surprises and maximum comfort. Whether you’re out early for a wakeboard session or planning an afternoon cruise, Lake Austin delivers a reliable experience year-round.

Why Water Levels Matter for Boaters
- High Water: Can cover docks or create swift currents
- Low Water: May expose underwater rocks, shallow ramps
- Stable Water: Ideal for smooth rides and float parties
At Big Tex Boat Rentals, we monitor levels daily to adjust launch locations, cruising routes, and safety briefings — so your day stays smooth from start to finish.
